Tarique Rahman expresses interest in building new ties with India

Today (January 10) in Rome, Saturday, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman visited the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh and expressed his interest in building new relations with India. In a meeting with Pranay Verma, who is working at the High Commission in Gulshan today, Tarique Rahman said that relations with India must be started in a new direction. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul and Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir were also present during the meeting. The ambassadors of Turkey and Egypt, who were in Bangladesh at that time,e also met Tarique Rahman.

After the meeting, Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir told reporters that the High Commissioner of India, the ambassadors of Turkey and Egypt, discussed how to take Bangladesh forward diplomatically if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) comes to power.

At that time, he said in reference to India, the path we will walk with India in the future is mentioned in Begum Khaleda Zia’s condolence message. There are challenges, and discussions were held with Pranay Verma to address them and establish peace and security. A greeting meeting was held, but there was no detailed discussion.

After Sheikh Hasina fled on August 24, Bangladesh has been issuing one threat after another. Of course, India has also done something opposite. However, this meeting with Tarique Rahman proves that other political parties in India can improve relations besides Sheikh Hasina.
