former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia
A street in the United States has been named after former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. The important place in the United States, Carpenter Street, will now be known as Begum Khaleda Zia. This information was confirmed by the media cell of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Thursday, January 8.
Basically, the proposal to name the section between Joseph Campao and Conault Streets in Hamtramck City after Khaleda Zia was recently approved by the city council. According to expatriates, this is not just a new identity for a street, but an international document of Bangladesh’s political struggle in the world.
This is not a new record on US soil, as a memorial was previously built for the grandfather of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s husband, Ziaur Rahman.
Incidentally, the city of Hamtramck is known for its diverse towns, and many believe that naming a street after a former Bangladeshi prime minister there will further strengthen the social and cultural bridge between the two countries.
Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at 6 am yesterday (December 30) while undergoing treatment. Leaders and activists of many countries around the world expressed deep condolences, and leaders of many countries attended Begum Khaleda Zia’s funeral. Meanwhile, information is coming from the United States today, January 8, 2026, about the construction of a mausoleum in the name of Begum Khaleda Zina, which is a joyous matter for all citizens of Bangladesh.
