Man Utd News – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals board order
Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed the Old Trafford board told him to bring back the feel-good factor at the club before improving results on the pitch.
“It’s not about making a case for me to stay,” he told Sky Sports. “Of course Manchester United is the place to be, everyone wants to be here and would love it.
“But my job description was, until the summer, get us playing in a certain way, get the mood back, get results – of course, I love every single minute of it and I’ll take whatever comes when it comes.
“It’s not just about putting smiles on faces, but that is a big part of it. Making sure you come into training looking forward to the next day and enjoy what you’re doing. That’s what we’re trying to do at the moment.
“It’s tough being away from my family, of course, but it’s a challenge every single day here because we play Fulham now, we need three points to get into the top four, then it’s PSG, then Chelsea – it’s just challenge after challenge. It’s fantastic.”
Man Utd News – Paul Pogba claim from Anthony Martial
Anthony Martial believes United fans are now seeing the best of Paul Pogba now that he’s been given free rein by Solskjaer.
“We all know what quality Paul possesses – Paul is Paul,” Martial told Sky Sports. “Now he has got this freedom to play with, I think we are beginning to see the real Paul Pogba play and let’s hope it continues.
“He is a leader, he talks more in the dressing room than he does on the field to be fair. Technically and with the spoken word, he is a leader in both senses. I hope he can continue to lead us to great things.
“I don’t think we are very far off the top four now so it is just a case of keeping going, winning as many games as we can so we can ensure a place in those Champions League spots at the end of the season.
“Any footballer would say the same thing, [my goal is] to win as many titles and trophies as possible, as much silverware as possible and it is also really important to keep developing, progressing and improving as a player over the years.
“I’d describe the period [since Martial has been at United] as really enriching for me as a person and a footballer.
“They have been good years, I’ve learnt a lot and I hope that I can continue to push on in the next few years as well.
“The fans and I have had quite a special relationship from my first season and fortunately, it has continued to last until now.
“I hope it continues into the future and let’s hope that together, we can win trophies and silverware.”
Man Utd News – Marcus Rashford hailed by Ander Herrea
Ander Herrera has heaped praise on the in-form Marcus Rashford, who believes is on his way to becoming a deadly striker.
“He’s different,” the Manchester United midfielder told ESPN. “We know at that moment there are some fantastic wings in modern football: [Ousmane] Dembele, we have also [Raheem] Sterling who is a fantastic player, Anthony Martial, Eden Hazard… but I think Marcus is different.
“Marcus can shoot, Marcus can do one-against-one but he has also the quality to continue and not lose the ball for the team.”
He later added: “I couldn’t say one player that reminds me of Marcus Rashford. I think he is already a top, top, top player but I think he will even improve with time in [his] decision-making and he will be unstoppable.”
