The Lakers are desperate to sign New Orleans Pelicans big man Davis before Thursday’s trade deadline.
Lakers president Magic Johnson has made numerous offers to the Pelicans for the 25-year-old.
Their first offer included Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley and a first-round pick, however, New Orleans quickly snubbed the proposal.
The Lakers made another proposal offering multiple young players and draft picks, as well as proposing salary cap relief in exchange for Davis.
However, it’s understood the Lakers have now pulled out of talks due to the Pelicans’ demands.
And Kuzma, who is likely to be moved on if the Lakers land Davis, has responded to trade talks.
“Maybe I should Bird Box,” he joked, referring to Netflix’s blockbuster film starring Sandra Bullock.
A lot has been made of the Lakers’ pursuit of Davis, with NBA hero Paul Pierce telling Johnson and co to get it done.
“You don’t play around with this,” Pierce said on ESPN’s The Jump.
“You get this generational player over here and pair him with LeBron and we’ll figure out the rest later.”
When asked if he’d give up all of the Lakers’ young stars and as many draft picks as necessary, Pierce added: “Everybody! Let’s go.
“We’re playing with LeBron’s last three years, go all in.”
Lakers superstar LeBron James looked like he was distancing himself from his team-mates on Tuesday night.
The Lakers lost 136-94 at the Indiana Pacers in James’ heaviest defeat of his career.
And signs of disruption in the Lakers camp was evident during the Pacers loss.
James was pictured sitting alone at the end of the bench, three seats away from his team-mates.
