Lakers news: Fans welcome Anthony Davis as NBA trade deadline draws closer | Other | Sport

The Lakers are keen to land New Orleans Pelicans superstar Davis before today’s trade deadline.

Magic Johnson and co have tabled numerous offers to the Pelicans, however, New Orleans were left underwhelmed.

Lakers have pulled out of talks due to the Pelicans’ high demands.

It was even claimed New Orleans have never intended to trade Davis to the Lakers, with the Pelicans hoping the rumours would sabotage Luke Walton’s team.

However, despite the uncertainty over Davis’ future, Lakers fans are convinced the 25-year-old will be playing at the Staples Center alongside LeBron James.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “9 hours. Welcome to #LakeShow @AntDavis23”

Another added: “I am going to wake up and Anthony Davis will be a Laker.”

“WOW!!! Anthony Davis welcome to LA!!!” another Lakers supporter said.

A fellow fan wrote: “Welcome Anthony Davis. go Lakers!!!!!”

One Lakers supporter took aim at the franchise and Johnson, insisting Davis must be signed today.

He said: “Go get us @AntDavis23 and stop playing around with all the tv shows.

“You will destroy the whole team if you don’t make it happen. We ain’t even getting to the playoffs.”

The Lakers’ first offer for Davis included Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley and a first-round pick.

Johnson has since made another proposal offering multiple young players and draft picks, as well as proposing salary cap relief in exchange for Davis.

However, New Orleans haven’t responded to the offer.

The Lakers are still keen to sign Davis, however, they don’t want to be bidding against themselves as the deadline draws closer.
