The Lakers were blown out 136-94 to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night.
It was by far their worst loss of the season, as they gave up more than 30 points in each quarter, whilst failing to reach that number once themselves.
LeBron James played for 30 minutes in the blow-out loss and led the scoring for the Lakers with 18 points.
The Lakers are currently in a transition period, having offered up almost half of their roster in a trade for Anthony Davis.
Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Rajon Rondo, Brandon Ingram, Lance Stephenson, Michael Beasley and draft picks were offered up for the New Orleans Pelicans star in their latest offer.
And the team played like a team uncertain of their futures, as they were non-existent on defense and blunt on offense.
It was the worst defeat a team with James has ever suffered when he has played.
The loss pushed the Lakers record to 27-27, as they face a serious battle to make the playoffs.
With just two minutes remaining against the Pacers, the Lakers were down by 46, which would have been the fourth-worst loss in franchise history. Their biggest ever was by 49.
And disgruntled Lakers fans vented their feelings on social media after the game.
Hundreds demanded that the head coach lose his job after the loss.
One fan posted: “Lakers need to fire Luke Walton. They just need to ride Lonzo, BI, Kuzma, KCP and whoever else the Pelicans want and just prepare for next year. This season is a wash.”
“LeBron is gonna fire Luke Walton tonight. 42 point loss,” another wrote.
Another Lakers fan demanded: “Need to fire Luke Walton losing by 42 with LeBron is unacceptable. Young Lakers no longer want to play for him”
The Lakers have until Thursday to complete a trade for Davis, or face competing with the Boston Celtics in the future.
