Denis Suarez: Spanish football expert sends warning to Arsenal fans over new signing | Football | Sport

That is according to Spanish football expert and ESPN FC pundit Sid Lowe.

Suarez completed his loan move to Arsenal from Barcelona on transfer deadline day.

The deal reunites him with head coach Unai Emery whom he played one season under at Sevilla earlier in his career.

Suarez, 25, has not been a prolific goalscorer at any team he has played for.

Lowe also admits the midfielder will not be topping the assist charts at the Emirates.

And he has warned Arsenal fans not to expect Suarez to raise the performances of his team-mates.

“Well I must admit I think a lot of this will depend on what’s around him rather than on Denis himself,” Lowe said.

“I think Denis Suarez, when you watch him play, he’s a guy that will occasionally create something very, very nice out of not very much.

“But he’s fundamentally a player who fits well in a functioning team, who moves the ball well, who’s positionally and tactically very bright.

“His passing is good, he will occasionally as I say provide assists, occasionally score goals, but not a huge amount of them.

“So I think the doubt I have is whether Arsenal expect him to immediately go in and have a huge impact on everyone around him.

“I think he’s more likely to have an impact as a technical, continuity player, than necessarily a player that raises the level of the entire team.

“So I think a lot will depend on him, obviously, but I think a lot will depend also on how well he fits with those players around him in the rest of the midfield.”

Suarez could make his Arsenal debut against Manchester City on Sunday.

He spent two seasons at City earlier in his career, making one League Cup appearance.
