Chelsea lost ground in the race for a top four finish after being thumped 4-0 by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries put in a breathtaking second-half display to run riot against Maurizio Sarri’s men, with goals from Josh King and David Brooks starting the rout.
King got his second of the game when he put away Junior Stanislas’s cross before Charlie Daniels added gloss to the scoreline with a late header.
The result leaves Chelsea fifth in the Premier League, level on points with Arsenal but trailing the Gunner on goals scored.
Express Sport has rated how the Chelsea players performed during their defeat to Bournemouth – do you agree?
Chelsea player ratings vs Bournemouth – Premier League
GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – 5
Largely blameless despite conceding four, with the Spaniard hard-pressed to do anything about each strike.
RB: Cesar Azpilicueta – 4
A tale of two halves for the Blues skipper, who was fantastic before the break but struggled badly after the interval.
CB: Antonio Rudiger – 4
Part of a Chelsea rearguard that looked so comfortable in the first half but all at sea in the second.
Failed to hold the defensive unit together, but was hardly the only one to underperform.
CB: David Luiz – 3
Fizzing the ball about with brilliant accuracy early on but showed he still has a mistake in him with a glaring error for the Cherries’ second.
LB: Emerson Palmieri – 4
Turned around far too easily as Bournemouth attacked with abandon.
Found his efforts to get forward frustrated and failed to make the most of a rare start in place of Marcos Alonso.
CM: Jorginho – 2
Struggling to justify his inclusion every week, with tidy but ineffective passes replaced by an anonymous second half performance.
CM: N’Golo Kante – 4
Charged around with seemingly endless enthusiasm but left the Blues undermanned in midfield when he tried to get forward.
CM: Mateo Kovacic – 4
Forced Arthur Boric into a top save with a good header but was completely bypassed after the break.
RAM: Pedro – 3
Seemed out of sorts in possession and some of his decision making let him down.
The quality of his final ball was also lacking as the Spaniard struggled to make an impact.
LAM: Eden Hazard – 4
Went looking for work but failed to get a handle on the game and rarely looked like sparking his side back into life.
ST: Gonzalo Higuain – 3
While the service was pretty poor, Chelsea’s new signing didn’t look like creating anything for himself and failed to consistently link up with his team-mates.
SUB: Willian (on for Pedro, 61 mins) – 3
Like Pedro, his delivery was pretty awful.
SUB: Olivier Giroud (on for Higuain, 65 mins) – 3
Chelsea fans will have barely noticed his arrival.
SUB: Ruben Loftus-Cheek (on for Kovacic, 77 mins) – 5
Had one effort flash across goal in his late cameo, and will hope to start next time out.
