Bangladesh has proposed a tariff reduction to the US
Bangladesh has proposed to the United States to reduce the tariffs imposed on Bangladesh. On behalf of Bangladesh, National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman submitted the proposal to US President Jameson Greer. The entire matter was confirmed by the press wing of the chief advisor.
Today (January 9), Friday, Dr. Khalilur Rahman highlighted the progress in reducing the trade deficit between Dhaka and Washington. He said that Bangladesh has been able to reduce the trade deficit to a large extent by increasing imports from the United States before the agreement came into effect.
At the same time, he also agreed to reduce tariffs on ready-made garments using American raw materials. In addition, Dr. Khalilur Rahman also requested to facilitate business travel as Bangladesh’s name was included in the recent visa bond list.
It is worth noting that Dr. Khalilur Rahman will meet with top officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tomorrow.
After US President Donald Trump came to power, he has imposed tariffs on all the countries of the world that oppose his views. Where the highest tariff has been imposed on India for purchasing oil from Russia. And 20% was imposed on Bangladesh. I have proposed to reduce that 20% tariff, Dr. Khalilur Rahman. However, the Bangladesh government is hopeful that Bangladesh’s tariff will be reduced in this proposal.
