A user on Reddit has used Captain America’s appearance as a sign of what could happen in the Marvel blockbuster. Amid speculation over time travel, the use of a quantum realm and the return of the all-important Infinity Stones, this could be a sign that fans are thinking along the right lines.

Redditor ak2sup said: “I rewatched the teaser trailer again and again looking for hidden details and clues and eventually found one.

“If [you] pause the teaser video at 1:12 and you will see a crying Steve Rogers but pay a little attention and you will realize that his haircut is similar to 2012’s Cap.

“Not only that but the leather jacket he is wearing matches with the one he wore in The Avengers (2012) ending scene while he is riding on the bike and smiles.

“What I mean to say is that there are two versions of Steve Rogers in the Avengers Endgame teaser.”

The theorist explained: “[Firstly], the present one who can be seen with Natasha, he has just his beard shaved but have same haircut from IW and is wearing stealth suit.

“[Secondly] the past one who shows up at 1:12, is wearing a black leather jacket.

“As you pause at 1:12 look at the background, it does look like Avengers Compound but actually it’s not, the trailer is edited in such a way to fool us.”

So are there two Steve Rogers’ in the trailer? And does it have anything to do with time travel or alternate dimensions? Or just plain old flashbacks?

We don’t have too much longer to wait: the release of Avengers: Endgame is now less than three months away.

A new teaser is expected to be released at some point during the Super Bowl coverage tomorrow night (February 3), although it is believed to be more of a repackage of the existing trailer than anything massively new.

The film will be preceded by Captain Marvel, set in the 1990s, out in March.

Avengers Endgame is out on April 25 in the UK.
