Bangladesh government reduces travel for Indians
The Bangladesh government has reduced the number of tourist visas coming to Bangladesh from India. Today, January 7, every Wednesday, the number of visas for Indian tourists in Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai has been reduced. Earlier, the embassy in Delhi and the office of the Assistant High Commissioner in Agartala were also stopped. Currently, only the office of the Assistant High Commissioner in Guwahati, Assam is providing visas to Indian citizens to Bangladesh. However, although a ban has been imposed on tourist visas for Indian citizens, business visas have not been issued.
After the former prime minister fled Bangladesh on August 24, Bangladeshi citizens vandalized the Indian High Commissions in Bangladesh. Since then, India has been imposing various types of visa restrictions on Bangladesh. But on Wednesday, Bangladesh first restricted the number of tourist visas for Indians.
After Sheikh Hasina fled, the Indian government has banned one visa after another, and currently all other visas except medical visas have been stopped.
The reason why India-Bangladesh relations turned from friends to enemies is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After Sheikh Hasina fled to India, the student crowd was threatening India one after another. The students demanded that Sheikh Hasina had killed many ordinary people in Bangladesh and sent them to India, so India should return Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh so that Sheikh Hasina’s murder could be tried. But the Indian government never agreed to return Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh. And from there, the relationship between the two countries turned from friendship to enemies.
